The Royal Hospital in Donnybrook is set to host its first ever family fun day in an effort to raise much-needed funds for the hospital.

The free event this Saturday, May 19 will be packed with activities for all the family, including a five-a-side children's football competition hosted by Beechwood FC and three 5K runs for transition year students, family groups and for anyone who would like to take part.

There will also be a bake off and plenty of other fun events for the family to enjoy.

Speaking ahead of the event Oisín Quinn, Chairman of the Friends of the Royal Hospital Donnybrook, said: “We are very much looking forward to welcoming families and members of our community to our inaugural Family Fun Day.

"Fundraising events like this are vital to the Hospital to support the important work it does; the money raised from the day will contribute to the Hospital and help it to carry out research, ensure excellent patient care and fund capital projects such as upgrading wards and developing new services.

"I believe that the variety of activities on offer on the day, set in the beautiful surroundings of the Hospital grounds, will make this a memorable day out for all the family – from young to old.”
